Yesterday Google has announced on its official blog that we can customize Google Search Homepage.
 
Yes, perhaps you find Google search homepage too simple, you don't like the white background or you just want changes?

I have a google account and I'm in america but there is no option for me.

"so if you don't see a link in the lower left-hand corner of Google.com now, check back soon"

I changed the damn wallpaper just to try and now I can't find an option to turn it off. Damn you, Google!
