iWork is from Apple, so you can find information on the Apple site. ;) I'm taking a look myself now at SlideRocket. :)

It's not the battery life, but the performance that concerns me. ;)

I can just buy a few spare batteries like we did for my dad's first laptop (battery time @ 2 hours).

The macbook White has removable battery and 4 hours of life!  The only down side is its using  DDR2 Ram at 800Mhz instead of  DDR3 thats in the unibody macs at 1066mhz. So in the long run you might see a little graphic performance decrease duo to the fact that the macbook run ons a Geforce 9400 integrated card. Integrated use the ram as memory so the faster you ram the better your graphic performance.

Hey, there's nothing wrong with the White MacBook! My sister has one, and they look pretty good, and they're smaller. The aluminium ones are bigger, and some don't like them as much - in some ways I prefer the white one.

I have a white one. Sure it can get dirty easy, but it still is great.

Plus, I think White is still the recognized color of an apple product, as the aluminum is still fairly new.

The white has got some production flaws though. If you're unlucky you'll eventually get some cracks in the bottom case. They will replace this, but it's still nasty.

Well I have decided that it is useless to buy a high-end laptop because it's about 10 times more expensive than a desktop. So, I'll buy one high-end desktop (possibly a Mac) and a low-end laptop (not a Mac).

I so want to buy that Eight-Core Mac Pro ... wish I had the dough. :(

Don't think that's very fair. And who knows - your computer might be broken or not able to update. :) If you want a Mac - buy an Apple. Else go for Windows or Linux.

Don't you know the unspoken 11th commandment?!?!?!

11th: Thou must buyeth Macs from Apple.

Penalty: If a man buyeth a Mac, and not from Apple, then shalt he be fined the cost in his best livestock. If a woman buyeth a mac, and not from Apple, then shalt she be stoned to death.

(Gotta love the dig at sexism in the bible ;) And yes I can, I'm christian :p Thinking of it, also in the Catholic church... :/ )

Yeah ... I'm only going to buy an Apple Mac. ;)

If I get a custom made, it defeats the purpose, doesn't it? Why not just get a PC then?

Yeah, don't go with Psystar (or however you spell it). They and other Mac Clone manufactures have been under a lot of heat lately with lawsuits and the like.

From MacWorld.com:

Quote :

First, Snow Leopard uses its 64-bit architecture to extend the software limit on system memory up to 16 terabytes. To put that in perspective, that’s 500 times more RAM than today’s 32GB limit. And—unless new Mac Pros come out with 4,000 RAM slots—it’s a purely theoretical limit.

Ummm ... it said so on the Apple site ages ago. Come to think of it, even Windows 7 64-bit supports plenty of RAM, so it's not that big a deal. If the popular amount of RAM doubles each year (as it normally does), we'll only need 128GB of RAM AT MOST in the next five years. Of course, graphics and other interface features have almost peaked, so I don't know how much more can be improved. I doubt we'd need over 20GB or RAM for the next twenty years (except for games) ... unless they come up with some heavy, memory-hogging technology.

Not the complete quote. And I was just impressed by the number of 16 terabytes.

64-bit versions of Windows should theoretically support 16 terabytes of RAM ;)

What I expect to improve both Windows and Linux performance, is Braidwood.

http://www.nordichardware.com/image3.php?id=7469
As you can see from the image, under the 4 RAM slots, there is a smaller slot for flash memory. According to Intel, you can put upto 16GB of flash memory (which is much faster than traditional harddrives) to drastically improve performance.

I am not sure about it, but if you could install your OS there, you'd have insane boot speeds :)

Unfortunately, Braidwood will only be available for Nehalem processors, which means I can't enjoy that technology for quite a while. I just upgraded my PC, and I'll wait atleast 2-3 years until I upgrade again :/
