ok i recently updated my spare xp machine to ubuntnu but there are some apps that i cant find  and some that i dont know if they exist so here are the apps: (or similar apps that are available)    
 
rocket docket  
true transparency
emerald theme manager
wine (windows file/application converter)
animated wallpapers (like the ones at www.elefun-wallpapers.com)
and a cd burning applcation (nero, burnXp etc...)
 
if you know were to find these applications or know that they do not exist please tell me

Rocketdock/true transparency isn't for linux.
 
1. To use emerald you must have compiz running.( plus accelerated graphic card and 3rd party drivers.)
 
connect to net and type in terminal:
 
sudo aptitude search emerald, (to search for emerald)
sudo aptitude install emerald,
 
2.WINE can be installed similarly.
 
3. desktop can be animated using x-video overlay.( in fact you can put any video file as our desktop background.)
