hi, i will try to answer you correctly, but i am french.
You can install Linux with Windows, it's very easy. Windows  is automaticaly reconized on the installation. :great:
If you want to begin easly, you can use PCLinuxOS, which is a very easy distribution, it's my favorite one. On the installation, you will be able to configure how your computer boot. :wink:

just follow the proces  ::::

1. make one drive empty in your existing xp system.

2. insert bootable xp cd and continue with installation system , delete the partition(empty) and then exit the setup program.

3. insert bootable linux installation cd, then linux will search the empty space in your hd n will be installed there.

If you don't want to have to partition your hdisk, e-mail me @

I can help U to install a small distrib into a file in XP, & you will beprompted @ boot time by XP itself what-do-you-want-to-start. I did it on 98, but I'm unsure with XP though. The dist is Xtra-light (if your XP takes 30 secs to start, it should take 15 ^^), but it looks good & is Debian-based, so you can Xtend it easily.

At first I thought this topic was a joke. :biggrin:

Good to know that XP and Linux don't go opposite ways. :wink:
