Hey All members of CrystalXP.net :happy2:  and especially Linux/Ubuntu Users  :loveit:

I just installed Ubuntu 7.10 AMD 64 on my computer with a dual-boot with XP couple of days ago, and as i'm used to work on photoshop CS3, i was wondering if someone knows how can we install it on ubuntu 7.10.I've seen tutorials on how to install Photoshop CS2 but not CS3, Any help would be appreciated  :happy2:

Thanks in advance.
Sincerely,
[C]radle.eXe

You can use WINE. In a few weeks, there will be a new version of WINE, that will allow to run PS CS3 smoothly on Ubuntu.
I suggest you wait till then

For info on WINE, google it..

I already tried it with wine, but during the installation i get a message that says ' This software needs Windows XP or Vista in order to function properly, or else, you can't install it.' So, like you said, i hope The new Wine supports PS CS3. Thanks for your help.

Sort of, Steam:Condition Zero, the last time i tried it (couple of months ago) the game was lagging A lot ! i don't know why. I had a Nvidia Geforce 6200 With TurboCache, and 2 Gb of RAM, and now i have An Nvidia 8600 GT 512 Mo with 3 GBs of RAM. but i don't think that was the problem.I think i hadn't activated the 3D option.. lol. I'll try again tonight  Any more help on how to install Windows games on Ubuntu would be appreciated

I know a few friends that get games working with Cedega pretty well.  I really only play native games/n64 emulators.  But if you need any help getting Direct Rendering 3d, dont hesitate to ask! :great:

Well you should have a Restricted Drivers in the System menu, open that and enable the drivers.
If you have Compiz Fusion up and running, you have already got the drivers..

well, sorry, they are not my "real life" friends, just people from ubuntuforums so I dont know their email addresses

Getting direct rendering is easy though!
open up a terminal and try typing this
CODEglxinfo |grep "direct"
if it comes out as CODEdirect rendering: Yes
then you are all set!
if not, you will need to install the nvidia drivers.  you can find those here http://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx?lang=en-us
once that is installed (you will need to reboot probably) try installing cedega or even regular wine.
http://youtube.com/watch?v=goyx6ml-gG0
that will probably be of help!

EDIT: http://appdb.winehq.org/appview.php?versionId=1554 that page has an excellent tutorial aswell!

As for Photoshop, I've seen it running on Ubuntu. Try installing it in Windows, and see whether you can start the EXE file in Ubuntu via WINE

Hope it helps :meuh:
