Hi, j.steph  :hello:
You can use linux on your computer without uninstalling windows: if you install a software that can create virtual machines of others operative systems, such as Innotek Virtualbox , you can use on the same computer more operative systems. There is a link where you can find more informations:
http://www.virtualbox.org/wiki/VirtualBox

I hope I help you

Or you can dual-boot. It means that you can have Windows AND Linux. VirtualBox is pretty slow, so I wouldn't reccomend it.
If you get a Ubuntu Live CD, you can easily install Ubuntu to a seperate partion of your harddrive (Ubuntu can do it automatically). Then when you boot your computer, you will be asked which OS you want. Like this:
http://www.funnestra.org/ubuntu/grub.png

And, if you use VirtualBox, you can't use all the features of Linux, such as a composting manager
I don't reccomend VirtualBox, as it is harder to configure Linux on it. I suggest you install Linux (I suggest Ubuntu) onto a seperate partion, from which you can features such as Compiz Fusion.

I totally agree with Legace. When you install a Linux system such as Ubuntu, you can create a multiple boot! This means you have to choose at each boot on which system you want to boot.

This also means you can can have more than 2 systems on your computer, for example having different distributions of Linux and also more thant one windows, but this is useless

i just succeeded to install ubuntu on a different partition now i'm facing with some program installations. I want to use utorrent on linux and to uninstall it from windows but not able to find utorrent for linux. i made some research and found wine software emulator for linux which seems to be designed to run any windows program on linux but utorrent seems to not work with wine. in the hope that you know these programs, can you help in this problem, and, a second one if possible, is it possible linux to interfere with windows? I mean i'll use linux more for internet browsing instead of windows. if somehow linux get a virus can this affect my windows?

First, I use Ubuntu since 2006 and i never had any viruses. Then, i you have a virus it will only cause damage on the operating system you are running i think.

µTorrent seems to be only developped for a windows system, but you can use some others programs which are as easy and fast to use than µTorrent. Here are some of them:

   *
      BitTornado
    *
Azureus (needs Java enabled, it's one of the most favorites and used)
    *
      KTorrent (for KDE)
    *
      Rufus
    *
      Official BitTorrent
    *
qBittorent (this one allows you to look for a torrent on 4 differents websites)
    *
      Deluge
    *
Transmission (really simple, fast, this is the one i use)
    *
      Allpeers (firefox extension)
    *
      Linkage
    *
Opera (which is a browser, but also has a torrent function)

If you really want to use µTorrent you can use Wine, but i can't help you there, because i never used this program

There are no viruses for Ubuntu, you can only get a virus designed for windows, but it won't probably affect windows. I suggest you download Firestarter firewall to prevent these viruses.

µtorrent works perfectly on wine (atleast for me.)

Remains only this issue:

if could get any help from someone who faced the same issue would be great, however if not, although i never used them, i'll choose and try with one of the programs recommended by Narc0.

unless you use a tracker that only allows uTorrent, I would use Ktorrent.  Ktorrent is more full featured and is native.
