I like Ubuntu. I dont only run it with gnome though. I run KDE, GNOME, OPENBOX, XFCE, and sometimes iceWM.
I like to switch it up every once in a while

Linspire looks pretty cool... I just could never bring myself to pay for it/subscription for C n' R
Freespire, on the other hand might just get a partition on my harddrive soon!

I am a Linux newbie. I have just purchased Suse 10.1 from Novell. A steep learning curve. I wanted to try it as my HTPC.  First big hurdle was to get it operating on my USB ISDN modem. Took me 2 weeks of searching and trying and finally found answer, so got internet connected. Have downloaded programs that allow me to play commercial DVD's (which suse distro didn't ). Next will try MythTV so that I can watch digital TV.
The overall desk top is similar to Windows.

I agree that PCLinuxOS is quite good, but I would a debian based distro over an rpm based one.

I find all distros quite similar, but ubuntu seems to be the easiest one to use.

It is true that all distros are quite similar. But that is mainly due to package management. If you are to use Gentoo or another "compile everything" distro you will notice the difference. You can also try different DEs and WMs if you want to switch things us. I do agree that Ubuntu is great. I also use it and love Ubuntu!
