I added a windows update that destroyed my computer!

Here's the full story:

When I got the computer from a computer guy who was working in my friend's company, the computer guy said he had put on it "Windows Crystal XP". He said it was a new operating system from Microsoft and that there is a "mirror program" instead of system restore.

After a few months, I updated the computer (using windows updates as I always do) and then after the update I was shocked to find that the start button wasn't a penguin, it looked like in Windows 98 or something and the welcome screen was the normal windows XP instead of crystal :aww: and then a window appeared saying that files required to run windows are now replaced with unrecognizable versions and that I have to put my windows CD to restore the files BUT I DON'T HAVE THAT CD!!! I couldn't use system restore and I searched the computer and found no trace of the "mirror program" whatsoever  :gimpwarning: I tried to contact the computer guy but I found that he had went to live in Italy!!!

P.S:
I found that a number of my computer games that used to work perfectly fine stopped working or crash after a few minutes from opening them.

So can anyone help me out? Can I download the CD online or something (I am unable to buy it because I'm not in USA or Canada or Europe)? Can I re-install Crystal xp from the internet? Can I somehow restore the files?

My main concern is restoring the files so that the games and programs can work again.

I'm sorry for taking your time. I hope that I gave you all the information you need to fix the problem.

Thank you

1. try find bricopack shortcut in startmenu , and run update
bricopack.

else

2. open "add remove programs" , uninstall bricopack. that should restore files.

else

3. download and install windows sp3 update from microsoft.

else

you really need a windows CD.
