Welcome to CrystalXP lefthand. Your result looks promising, but as you said there are some things that could improve. There's a little aliasing in the top, and the feet hasn't got the right effect. Perhaps take look at those steps again.

Off course tomorow another try , i did one more today lil better but not like the original, instead made a mix of tihs method on other icon.Really basic , but lol i have 6 months practice with photoshop.

I've just found this site and since I am also into Photoshop and interested really in OS customization, I joined immediately.

This tut was the first I tried from here. I changed it greatly at last, here are my results:

This is my second try , i fixed the shape form , but i cant get to the final result like in first page...

Welcome ---Storm---! Great result by the way. lefthand, perhaps you can tell us what step you don't really understand? Or you can post your .psd file and we can see what is not correct?

well my 4th try , this time i did the shape ok, but im still missing something , here i post the psd too, if ya want to take a look ,thanks.

This first result gave me a bounch of ideas. I have never tried this "crystal" style before but i like it. I will create my web- and graphical design homepage in similar style. With some luck I can finish the enter page's graphic tomorrow - if everything goes well it will be a little flash-like animation but using only gif and png images.

thx for informations! i am now trying the trial version of Photoshop CS3! i cant do lots of things ! i am learning how to draw in this program . maybe sometime i will learn how to draw circle ! maybe u can add some tuto for learn what to do when u downloaded photoshop

Edit: You can find the layers palette in the right bottom of your screen. Which part do you not understand?

You can use ToYCon for converting different images into icons , nice outcome BTW
