Could someone tell me how to get the gradients coming off the lines, like in Drago's wallpaper and KhainDesign?

I've been trying to get that for a while and it's driving me mad

Is it a layer effect, or has a tool been used?

It's not crud at all, and it's good for your second try  

As headbuster said, perhaps change the text. The outline you've got there (Is that an emboss?) doesn't quite fit, maybe make it thinner and different colours, and if you lower the text so it fills some of that "white-space"

And I think if you made the black line a curve, or lowered the opacity it would look even better!

Just play around with it, get used to the app you're using, experiment, practice makes perfect

I'm kinda going slightly mad...

My line tool first wouldn't draw just a line, but a rectangle, if that makes sense.

Then I set it to defaults and now it draws arrows... very thick arrows... like with the custom shape tool...

How do I set it to just draw a simple, normal, everyday, line? Gruzz?

Look at the properties of the Line Tool (in top of your screen). Make sure that the options for Arrowheads are both turned off. You can see these options by clicking on the black arrow pointer. If that doesn't help, please post a screenshot.

Ah, thanks Gruzz! I always thought that arrow was on the custom shape tool, as in it was a drop down button

I'll make this now then! Just need to go beg for help in the support section.

Well I fixed my line tool! Though I didn't use it at all, I seem to be using the pen tool more and more...

In Photoshop, just go to Image -> Image Size to resize your image. The shortcut for this action is Alt + Ctrl (Cmd on Mac) + I.

It's under the Lasso Tool (this icon   ). It's called Polygonal Lasso Tool.
