But I advice you to make the background gradient(blue and dark blue for example) or like Gruzz said transparent!  

not sure what happened.....  it was on a transparent background until i changed it to a jpeg and posted it here, the background became black.  It is not black on my computer! But i agree that black is not the best background color.

For something to be transparent, you will probably have to save it as a .png file. .jpeg/.jpg doesn't recognize transparency and auto converts it to black or white (usually white).

Well I followed the tutorial and made the Tux, and I'm pretty happy because I got nearly all of it.

Bit that I didn't get was making the inner shadow for the feet with the black fill and then using the gaussian blur. All I got was a grey circle that was black in the middle, but it didn't got to transpaent and wasn't smooth.

So instead I just used a black to transparent gradient and messed sround with that till I got the result I was after ^^

I changed the colours a bit, and I'm going to have to add some accessories soon!

.Ghost., very nice result! About the shadow, I think you forgot to reduce the layers opacity to 50%. I can forgive you a small reading mistake after such a long tutorial. I've made an example .psd file which shows my drop shadow when I reduced the layers opacity to 50%.

Thanks Gruzz for the psd, hopefully that might help.

I did change the opacity though, I tried it at different opacities, layer modes, and I redid it a few times, but all I got was the black fading to grey, and then it stopped at this grayish colour that was really sharp against the white.

Welcome to CrystalXP Zohan. Your Tux is pretty good. I like the hair dryer that he's holding. You saved your Tux with a white background, a white background would have looked better. Something to remember for the next time. One question, why did you put the text 'head admin' in your avatar?

I assume you mean transparent bg. I edited that.  

This was just a joke. I also use this avatar in another Forum. In the other, they use this graphic for their overall Admins. Thought this is funny.

Got a quick question.  I made a tux that i submitted and it has been waiting for validation since july 26.  Anyone know whats up with this?

soonerdude13, are you talking about your Canadian Tux? I just checked and it is still waiting for validation. I am sorry that it takes such a long time to validate submissions sometimes.

Hello, im CycloneZ and i need help xD.
 
For some reason when im following the selection steps i can't get them.
 
The step is, make a new layer then ctrl-click the other one which is alike and i do it.
Then t says fill in your new selection.
 
How do i make the new selection?

Ctrl (or Cmd on a Mac) click on the thumbnail layer. This will make a selection around every object in that layer. Then use Shift + Backspace to Fill. Welcome to CrystalXP!

 
Hi, im still a bit confused xD
 
I did what you told me but nothing happen. Only that after i few times i push Shift + Backspace the layers get deleted. xD
What is suppose to happen? Is the shape suppose to get selected which it is but it doesnt on my photoshop xD.

the only problem was when i made it a .gif the quality decreased. does anyone know how to fix this?

Welcome to CrystalXP maquire202! You made a very nice Tux. Good job. If you already saved in the highest quality you can safe the .gif file, there's probably no other way to increase the quality. .gif files aren't as good looking in terms of quality compared to .png files most of the time. But.. you'll of course lose the sparkles.
