ghostnatyphon Who Dares Wins Profil: Penguin Pro | Well for some reason I can't see step 9's outer glow property picture. I also don't get the selection I need to make with the rectangular marquee tool, where, waht size? I can't get the rainbow right because I can't get the rectangle right And also how did you get the pen tool path to become the selection? I can make the path, but I can't make it the selection... Also for some reason I am getting a lot of anti-aliasing on the ring 2 and ring 3 layers, any idea why? EDIT: And is there some magical way of putting a selection, or layer centered on the canvas, by chnaging the x and y values? I've looked but I can't find it anywhere, so I'm centering them by hand and eye, so I know it wont be right that way
Gruzz Profil: Moderator | I haven't got much time to look into your other questions at the moment, but I know the answer to your last question. If your selection is active, go to Select -> Transform Selection and change the x and y values.
darklady Just remember, art saves lives. Profil: Big Penguin | About the selection: With the pen tool still selected, right click on the path that you made and click "make selection" or something like that. To center a layer (or many layers) on the canvas, select the layers that you want centered and then - Layer > Align > vertical center and horizontal center (it should say something similar) or Edit > Auto-Align Layers Quote :
Choose Layer > Align or Layer > Align Layers To Selection, and choose a command from the submenu. These same commands are available as Alignment buttons in the Move tool options bar.

When I do that it just gives me two circles, as in it chose the space that would be filled for the path as the selection, as opposed to the path itself... if that makes sense, sorry if I'm not being clear.

Make it anywhere and of any size

Make sure that the path you make is a closed one , after doing so right-click on the path (with the Pen tool selected) and select 'Make Selection'

I use two ways for this: 1. Select the layer and pres Ctrl+T now give its co-ordinates as X= 1/2(Width of the canvas) , Y= 1/2(height of the canvas) in pixels. 2. As you create ny new document , fill a layer with any color and select the 'Move Tool (V)' , enable 'Show Bounding Box' option from 'Options Bar', this will bring a cursor at the center of the document , no press 'ctrl+R' and bring a vertical and a horizontal ruler at the center of the canvas (view this )

You should use 'Shape Tool' for making the circles

ghostnatyphon Who Dares Wins Profil: Penguin Pro | Well after some toil and trouble, I managed to finish it, and I'm fairly happy with the result: I did however not use the gloss layer, as I found that actually made the CD darker, and I didn't get the rainbow right as I just ended up with a vaguely coloured blur... I drew the rectangular selection as just a box on the cd, and then after the pinch and gaussian blur I ended up with a dark splodge... ah well. But other than that... not bad And I had to guess the outer glow on the ring layer as I still can't see the picture for it But it didn't seem to work anyway

ghostnatyphon Who Dares Wins Profil: Penguin Pro | Thanks for the PSD Asher, that makes you the second person to have to give me one because I didn't quite get a tutorial Still I think having to adapt mine to get the outcome probably helped me in some ways, having to mess around to get effects and such ^^ I'll have to make some icons and post soon. Brilliant tutorial btw, cheers
