Hi!!
This is only my second tutorial so don't expect too much off it , I hope you all understand it!

In this tutorial I'm going to learn you to make something like this:

step 1
Ok, we start we'll start with a new document, use the following settings:

step 2
fill your background with a dark color, I used #65112d (no I'm not gay, I just liked the effect)

step 3
go to filter>render>Lighting Effects
use the following settings:

(sorry for the bad images, it's .gif, so the image doesn't look that good   )

step 4
Now, set your foreground color to a lighter variant of your current foreground color. I used #e688a7

step 5
Choose line tool () and draw a random line from the left to the right:

step 6
Go to edit>transform>warp
play something around like this:

step 7
make more of those lines (all in different layers)
go to filter>render>Lighting Effects
give all lines APART a nice lighting effect:

step 8
set the blend mode of the lines to Overlay, Screen or Linear Dodge, so you get a good looking effect:

You can make as many lines in your piece as you want:


I gave it a try with blue and purple, that wasn't a success

Looks pretty cool. I just don't understand how the 'background' layer suddenly got a smooth gradient look? Was that the result of a layer style?

Thanks Gruzz. It's because all images I submitted are .gif and the one with the smooth gradient look was .jpg so you'd see how it SHOULD look like
I'll see if I can create new images which are clearer

Ah ok. Well, about the images is up to you. If you think it is important, go for it!
