I think everybody of you knows these cool 3D movies for which you need special glasses.
I'm going to show the technique to transfer two of your photos into one stereogram (3D pictures), which was invented 1853 by a German, with Gimp. Along the way, you'll learn about the complementary colors.

What you'll need :
-> Gimp 2 or higher
-> Anaglyph glasses (One red and one Cyan glass) like
these
-> The two Photos, taken from two different perspectives
Example :

I'm going to use these two :

Let's work on the pictures now. We'll have to fill the different color channels to get our pictures filled with the complementary colors.
So let's go ahead with the first image :
Open it with Gimp and go to the "Channels" menu.
Select the Channel "Red" and fill it with white.
You'll achieve this :

Now open the second image, go to the "Channels" menu, select the Channels "Blue" and "Green" and fill them with white, too.
You'll get this :

After these easy steps you take the first image, copy it and now paste it onto the second one.
Choose the Layer-Mode "Multiplication".
Now we're done with this :

So now put on your 3D-glasses and you'll have the great impression that you could grab into your screen.

Have fun and show your results if you've tried it

Funny tutorial. Never seen anyone of this sort. It's indeed a pity most of us don't have those special glasses.  :jap:

Yes I don't have one at home, too.
But I learned about that in school and my teacher said they're about 1¤, so everyone could have one.

I saw a other method to have a 3D effect without glasses, but I guess it works with some particular pictures like this one :

They said you have to move the picture from right lo left very fast.

Wait, Azzurra, are you saying that that dinosaur isn't actually 3D, just the same picture moved left to right?

OK I'm totally new to GIMP I located the channels menu but don't have a clue how to follow the steps above.

Just what steps do I need to take to: Select the Channel "Red" and fill it with white etc and so forth...

Please post a version step by step.
