Yes... about the tutorial... ... I think you should make the text underneath the white layer.... but that's is what I think....

I guess that would just be your personal opinion and what you like.  For me I would have it on top to acheive a 'vista' like effect, but the underneath could acheive another type

I think it's interesting how everyone likes it different
