Well, after several months of zero planning, zero commitment, and constant nagging; I have finally started redoing my website!!!
 
So, here is the first draft... (And thankyou Uttaresh, your web designs have inspired me to get a move on!)
 

 
I don't like the GHOST text in the top, something about the colouring... but I want the G to stand out from the "HOST"... maybe same colour, different size?

I'm curious: Is that a PSD or HTML snapshot?
 
Why not make the Ghost of the same size, and keep the G black, and make the HOST look as if it's engraved onto the metal without any colour?
 
And your design is nice, but why is it so short? (as in the height)

Even so, you can expand it a bit, make it more spacious.

And for what I was saying earlier about the GHOST, your sig is a very good example. Just capitalise the letters, remove the i, and darken (blacken) the G.

EDIT: Wait, in your sig, is the iGhost supposed to be engraved or printed?

Irony besides, I've converted to html&css and uploaded to a server...
 
Well, on my locla machine, running in any webbrowser the page, with it referencing to a a css file in the same directory, and images one directory down, everything works perfectly. However when I load the exact same directory and files to the server, in the exact same structure it doesn't work; the header and footer backgrounds don't appear, and thus don't repeat. I'm tearing my hair out over why this isn't working, I just can't figure it out. It works on local, but not on server... I'll try a different host over the weekend, but I'm busy tomorrow.

Not bad, however the area next to the Ghost on the top is green, not the full gradient like in the original you posted.
 
To be quite honest, I'm not sure about the green. It's good since it contrasts well, however it just seems too bright for my liking. Also, I still feel that the shorter the layout the better, depending on the content you put.
 
If you were releasing new content at least twice a week, I'd say keep it the length it is now. But with the rate of publishing that you've had in the past, I feel that the shorter the better.

The footer is fixed to the bottom of the page, hence the length. And my rate of publishing will be increasing, hence bothering to revamp the site.
 
I did mention the backgrounds, for some reason, weren't loading...
 
Plus Uttaresh has been moaning about the length...

In your CSS:

background:url('images/BG.gif');
background-repeat:repeat;

Replace it with:
background:url(images/BG.gif) repeat;

That should fix it. Same thing for the rest.

Maybe it's because YOUR STUPID BACKGROUND ADDRESS IS INCORRECT!!! 404 on the image URL.

PS: You really shouldn't name your folder Personal Site. Use an underscore.

And that's onl because it was on my computer, hence spacing, and just a quick upload. when it's done I'll be wiping it and restructuring so it's 'server' safe. Don't lecture me on standards

Well you've typed header_BG in your CSS. That must be why it's not working.

For some reason, when I upload it doesn't overwrite the server files... filezilla = fail.

OK, I've renamed the images.

OMG THEY WONT RENAME!!!!

Filebrowser says they are renamed, but browsing the index says they aren't...

EDIT: OK, the server insists they are renamed, everything correct, but the wensite wont actually change since the first upload... and that was right as well...

Well, looking at the CSS file I still see a lowercase 'h'
 
Why not edit the CSS file with the browsers in the 000webhost area? Or use Dreamweaver instead of Filezilla, or connect to the FTP server manually.
