I'm starting a new website for web-designing. So far, I've made the banner, the buttons, and the flash intro movie.

Check it out here:
http://webtweaker.net

PS - Still under construction.

wow the intro is nice.. it defines Windows. :jap: just kidding.
you should work a bit more on the main site, the design looks a bit, outdated.
good luck!

Not too bad. Couple things.
You should get rid of the flash part of the site. Flash is annoying and takes up bandwidth.

For what resolution is this site made for? I have a 24" monitor running at 1920x1200 and your site looks real big, especially the buttons. When people view your site at 1024x768 or 1280x1024, they will have both horizontal and vertical scrolls and that is a no no in web design. Avoid horizontal scrolling.

Oops! Guess I didn't pay attention! I have a 22 inch myself, so it looks OK to me. I'd better make it smaller then!

EDIT - Just fixed it.

And by the way, the Flash animation is just a few KB in size -- so it loads up pretty quick!

All right. The buttons are much better now.
I think you could work on the shadow of the site.. Maybe a shadow like here on the forums would be better?

1. Site broken under Safari, unless you don't care for compatibility with Safari.

2. IE7 with IE7 Pro, header does not show up.

Firefox and Opera are fine. Remember, your site will be viewed by many people with different browsers. IE6 doesn't count, it's old and people should know better to upgrade. Firefox, Opera, IE7 are your main playgrounds. Have a copy of all of them installed for testing purposes.

Nope, it works with IE7 for me. I'll install Opera and Safari today, see what the problem is. Thanks!

EDIT - Just checked it with Safari, the site works fine... what are you talking about?

Safari - I stand corrected. I have no clue why it did not display correctly the first time. It works now. My apologies.

IE7 - The header does not show up. I do have IE7Pro add-on installed. Do you have IE7Pro add-on?

Ummm... no, what's that? I'm not going to bother with it unless it's a popular add-on.

After some thought, I've decided to make my website in Flash... and I'm trying a completely new design. Bright colours, and a slightly cartoonish design.

Click!

Only the navigation bar is there right now. Put your mouse on them to see the animations.

Well don't forget that flash sites aren't spidered very well by bots (like google, though they are getting to it) and some people don't like flash sites for the simple fact of the loading time, that's the reason I abandoned my first flash site, it looked amazing, but it wasn't able to be spidered (Without the html mirror) and people simply couldn't be bothered to have to keep waiting for it to load.

But heck you'll have a damn fine looking site if it's in flash

That's my whole point. I want a good looking site.

Don't worry about the loading time. I shall only pre-load the Flash base. For any extra content, I'll program it to load then and there as the content is requires - this reducing the overall loading time.

Agreed, spiders and bots can't crawl it very well... that's why we use Meta tags and comments.

But do you notice anything wrong with the Navigation? Or any tips?  :mdr:

Oh yea, the site

I don't think you should use purple writing on a green background... it's hard to read, and the two colours don't go together well. (When hovering over the buttons) The animation is good, but on the About and Portfolio buttons the glow is cut off, which doesn't look so good

And the drop shadow on the navigation bar... I dunno, it just isn't really doing it for me

Love the button animations though :great:

I'm off to sleep, but I'll make the changes tomorrow.

I like it, but I'll try blue then. Maybe with a black outline to make it more visible?

Silly me! I placed the buttons too close to each other so that's why they're overlapping/cutting each other off!

I didn't like it myself, but I wanted some feedback.

A black outline woul probably help yea, to make it stand out.

Maybe a black outer glow on the whole thing, to make it stand out from the background, and a different effect on the nav bar?
