Nice color variations, but I think they'd look better without the shadow.

Why not? I like 'em with shadow. Looks great

Nagaya, one thing. i think there should be some light in the middle. this is because glass redirects the light from the sides into the middle. it's just  a silly thought though.

Here is before and after the light. very little effect but make a big difference. thanks for your opinion.
