No it was just an idea to give the avatar more of a crystal/glass look.

I had followed a tutorial on glow effects, using the pen and some effects and used it as the basis to make my avatar:

And I made my sig from scratch, just using the rounded rectangle tool, and then using the blending options to get the effects and colours. Though I think I'm going to change the black outer glow, so it isn't as dark... and I might add some gloss, shinies And I might fade the name in the "thinking space" a bit, so it doesn't stand out as much. The name there has pretty much every blending option there was on it, just with very low opacity, it isn't noticeable though if you look closesly you can make out things like the gradient, slight embossments and such, but like I say I knocked the opacity really low on all of them, so they'd have an effect but wouldn't take over the picture.

And I made this little userbar when I was bored, nothing to do and the idea popped into my head.

Finished some slight edits on the sig, added a gloss and lessened the glow, looking better?

I like your avatar. And I think that lowering the glow on the signature has been a very good choice.

Well I did another couple of signatures, the idea cam from browsing the forums and noticed Graphyx awesome signatures, so thought I'd do my own! Though I used a rounded rectangle, as the suggestions say, looks better

Made a "fresh" one, with green because I am addicted to green, especially the mix between green and yellow, gorgeous colour  

And then I made a "Street" one simply because I noticed some fonts which made me think Grafitti, and that gave me an idea! The "graffitti" is names of websites, like FlashBack and Flash Revival and, of course, Crystal XP! (CXP because it seemed to fit better in the sig).

How do they look? I was a bit unsure about the slight opacity on the border, and the small grey gradient bit... you kinda can't see the border... though these work perfect on the FR forum, dark background!

I think I'm going to darken the border ('Specially for CXP background ) and I'm going to make some avatars with the same style.

This one isn't my signature, but it is one I made. I made it for a friend on a forum, we're both admins of it, FlashRevival. It's not unbelievably active but we only have four or five real members, a fair few no-posts, a couple of one-posts and a few spammers. But it's a really good community even so, we're all just mates ^^

So anyway, I made this signature, this is the third version, which is the one he was happy with

And that's his M4 in there that he made with flash, he's good at guns.

Talking of guns, totally of-topic here, I'm looking into joining the TA (Territorial Army) next year, doing an officers training core thing at University along with my Maths and Physics I'm hoping to do, and then I may join the army as an officer. I'm still looking into it and I'm not too sure. My mum just says I can do what I want to, though she keeps happily pointing out people get shot in Afghanistan and so forth. My brothers are fine with it, my dad probably wont care either way, but hes a dick a deserter and far too self-concious and possibly too self-conceited. And my sister probably doesn't mind, so long as I go to university first

And I got rid of the opacity on the White box on the green sig (Wont bother with that "Street" one), hopefully it's looking better, then it can be my sig Looks better than my thinking space even if it has lost that "Deep" meaning.

Wow! The orange looks really good on it! Though that might just be because I love orange... Still looking really good!

How do you make those lines? The white and the blue ones on the sig and avi? Are they just paths made with the pen tool?

I just finished making some userbars for a forum that I co-admin, as I'm now the official "Graphics-Guy" because I have photoshop and apparently my sigs and ones I made look good, which I guess they do but I'm determined to get better!

So anyway, this is only the first version, and the brief was... um... bugger one sec I wrote it down somewhere... Ah here we are!

"F in red, lash in white, R in dark red, evival in white, shiny userbar, cool redish gradient BG, some effects on the text like glow outer, in some other kind of red, with one macromedia flash 8 logo transparent at the back with scanlines"

I think they are definately accurate to the "brief". Just as usual with anything, if there's anything you can think of that might improve it do say, these are only the first version.

.Ghost.: I think the "F" and "R" should be different colours, I can hardly see them. Or change the Background gradient.

Tatice: I like the new Avatar and Signature. Very Nice.

Yea, I did add a black stroke to them but still not easy to see... I'll make the background gradient darker, since I can't really change the colour of the F and the R, that's basically the kind of "trademark" of FR, the red starting letters... I'll definately make it darker though, thanks Cerberus And call me Ghost

Made another signature This time because In have just installed Ubuntu on my laptop (Using Wubi) and I've fallen in love with it!

So I've made a signature for it, and I used Gimp just for the occasion

It's not brilliant, but I found Gimp harder to use than photoshop, was a nightmare trying to transform a selection. And the outer glow I think might be too dark?

I agree the outer glow is a bit too dark. The red person of the Ubuntu logo looks a bit aliased as well? The rest of the signature is really cool. Love the line and the text.

Yea I agree there, though I don't know why it is so aliased... I made it just using the fill tool and the circular marquee tool...

I love the glass effect, at the bottom can I make a sig (when i will have an idea) with this effect ?

Yea, it's fairly easy, you just take the background image (in this case the ubuntu logo) and the duplicate its layer.
Delete the bit behind the "glass" from one layer, and from the other layer you delete the piece from above the glass.
Then just apply a gausian blur to the layer that is behind the "glass", play the amount until it looks good (I use 5 normally) and then you should get that same effect

I was messing around with the glass filter, following a tutorial on google that showed how to make channels and then use them as textures for the effect so you got the glass effect

The original tutorial was for 800x800 pixels so I had to mess around with the filter settings a lot, but I think it came out pretty good The border I did was terrible though, but ah well, I'll perfect it later

And my avatar, I was browsing the different custom shapes and noticed the shield which looked cool So made an avatar with, the text blocks were from a brush set, though i can't remember which

Of course you can use tuxes in your avatar You can use any tux for anything, so long as it isn't commercial (And it's best to ask for permission if you are using them in a project), no one's goin to attack you for putting a tux in your avatar
