Hi!
A couple of years ago I downloaded the trial version of jvc powertools and I was amazed at how many problems it found in the registry. Being unaware I chose the option for safe removal.  Well anyway it removed a file it shouldn't have related to Internet Explorer and I had to download a new copy of Explorer over the old one.  The new version claims to be safer, has anyone had any experiences with it?  Also how do you make a backup of your registry in Windows, and where does the backup go? Can you choose the place where the backup would be filed?   I may download the Jvc trial version but wanted to get some feedback before doing so.  Thanks!

p.s. For future reference should I post things like this here in Miscellaneous or in Coconut Island?

I wouldn't trust JVC Powertools, since I don't find anything that relates to it on a Google search. Are you sure its safe?
If you need a registry cleaner, use CCleaner. It works for me and millions of other users

:ar: CCleaner will ask you to backup the registry keys that are going to be cleaned - and yes, you can specify the folder they are saved into

Oh, and I think posts like this belong into the Software Aid & Support area..

I do use CCleaner, I did however have a problem with Jvc in that instance when it removed a necessary file.  I went to the forum there and of course the opinions on the safety was divided.  I'm glad you replied because I'm hoping you can give me an answer on creating a backup of the registry that can be filed in case of any emergency situation.  It's funny but when I had that problem with Jvc there was an option to restore the files removed but either it wasn't working properly or I just didn't know how to do it.
