uttaresh The Penguin Master Profil: Penguin Pro | Could I have a link to the exact font?
Gruzz Profil: Moderator | When I just downloaded the .psd file, I saw that I had uploaded the wrong file. I added the correct Tux Card as an attachment again, sorry for the inconvenience. uttaresh, please check wether you still have the same problems when using this file.

Gruzz Profil: Moderator | Don't post useless posts like this one, or you will get a warning. The amount of spam-like posts in increasing. It has no use, and this won't be accepted by the CrystalXP team. Your posting rights can be taken in for a certain amount of time in the future.
codenamem2k Profil: Big Penguin | What does he mean by that??? Again, I must say that your PSD file about the Tux Card is cool

ghostnatyphon Who Dares Wins Profil: Penguin Pro | I believe he means that this project of making a game with tux cards, has died. By which I mean: It's over. The dream, is over.
Gruzz Profil: Moderator | Why would it be over? If everyone who contributed had a good time and learned something, that's perfect. I mean, that's what this whole forum is about. We don't have to continue projects for a 100 years. That'd be unrealistic and not very interesting. And if someone wants to create a card now, that is perfect as well.
ghostnatyphon Who Dares Wins Profil: Penguin Pro | I was joking with "The dream, is over" But of course people can still make the cards, and I'm sure people who did make them had fun, but I mean the project didn't last, or really start
uttaresh The Penguin Master Profil: Penguin Pro | That's because we haven't decided on the game. Where will it be hosted, will it be online or offline. Multi- or single-player. Flash or .NET. Just too many questions, and too little time.
ghostnatyphon Who Dares Wins Profil: Penguin Pro | Might help a bit if we start talking about it
Gruzz Profil: Moderator | Well in my opinion it's a bit early to discuss that. How about creating some beautiful cards first?
uttaresh The Penguin Master Profil: Penguin Pro | It's time to get started with this!!!! Here's a beta version I'm making, using Visual C# 2008 Express Edition; that is to say it will be a .NET 3.5 software. We can either have all Tux in one file, or we can have the program download the Tux from crystalxp.net. I think it would be better to download the tux from the site, as it would greatly reduce the download size for the program. However, those with a slow internet connection could be at a disadvantage. There are many cons of using .NET, but I chose it over Flash as there are many pros as well: - .NET supports true transparency, showing the stuff UNDER the window. Flash does not. - You can hide the title bar and Window border in .NET - .NET supports Language features. This would enable us to use one single download which would have texts in both English and French, without using any additional disk space or programming. - .NET is better for updating through the Internet. However, many people may not have .NET 3.5 installed ... so it can create a problem. Luckily the file checks for .NET, and installs it (from Microsoft's website) if not found. Another disadvantage is that VC# is not really meant for graphics. This means that it does not support Layers. So, for each tux, we'll have to make the entire merged picture for the heading/title/name of the tux WITH the background included. So anyway, I've only managed to copy the basic design into VC# so far. Had a lot of problems at first, but I think I finally have it figured out. Here's what I've got. You'll have to download it and install it. To uninstall, use Add/Remove Programs. So tell me what ya think!
Tanshin Profil: Penguin Pro | Downloading now. I will let you know how it goes. Okay, when I open the installed file, Microsoft .Net ClickOnce Launch Utility crashes Here is a report (if you get anything from it) Product Microsoft .NET ClickOnce Launch Utility Problem Stopped working Date 10/9/2008 2:10 PM Status Report Sent Description Stopped working Problem signature Problem Event Name: CLR20r3 Problem Signature 01: applaunch.exe Problem Signature 02: 2.0.50727.1434 Problem Signature 03: 47579567 Problem Signature 04: mscorlib Problem Signature 05: 2.0.0.0 Problem Signature 06: 475777fa Problem Signature 07: 3823 Problem Signature 08: b Problem Signature 09: System.Security.Security OS Version: 6.0.6001.2.1.0.256.1 Locale ID: 1033 Extra information about the problem Bucket ID: 211086020

ghostnatyphon Who Dares Wins Profil: Penguin Pro | Same problem, and it's nothing to do with problems relating to the .NET or not having something installed like the C++ patch, as I have Visual C# Express 2008 installed. Somethings buggered up somewhere
uttaresh The Penguin Master Profil: Penguin Pro | Sorry about that. Fixed.
ghostnatyphon Who Dares Wins Profil: Penguin Pro | So is the .zip link now corrected?
uttaresh The Penguin Master Profil: Penguin Pro | Yes, I just re-uploaded it. Remember, you will have to first uninstall using Add/Remove Programs, and THEN re-install using Setup. I know, it's tiring ... but that's how it is in .NET.
ghostnatyphon Who Dares Wins Profil: Penguin Pro | Nice, looks good so far, though I can't drag it around But a brilliant start!
uttaresh The Penguin Master Profil: Penguin Pro | Yeah, I have to figure out how to drag the thing now that I've hidden the title bar. Thanks, by the way! PS - Our Asher avatars put together look creepy. EDIT: I've fixed the drag problem. What now? Should it just be a collection of tuxes? You press the next and previous arrows and just see tuxes? How is that a game? Maybe we could "hide" codes all around the sites. Only by finding these codes would you get a look at the PREMIUM tuxes. Of course, we'd have to keep a lot of tuxes for free 'coz I don't think many people would want to scour all of CrX for a secret code...
Tanshin Profil: Penguin Pro | Hmmm... I still can't move mine... anyways Looks good so far. Maybe for the layout, you could tile them somehow?
uttaresh The Penguin Master Profil: Penguin Pro | Tile? What do you mean? And I said I FIXED the drag issue, I never uploaded the new version. Anyway, here's the second build (or third if you count the one that didn't work). I've fixed the drag issue. Added two more tux, set the author's name to align on the right, added a next, previous, and update button. The tux is now downloaded directly from CrystalXP.net and the titles from imageshack, so it may take some time if your internet is slow.
Tanshin Profil: Penguin Pro | I like the icon. What I meant for tiling would be have an option to see the cards all laid out and you could choose to see one up close. One note, I noticed this with the Wall-E tux, the text area extends out of the window and the author isn't lined up with the text. Perhaps some kind of window resize type code could fix it? Very nice so far, I really commend you on this, especially the speed you are working at. I will say that I am noticing some aliasing with the arrows, but that really isn't priority until the final release. If this was like the norton testing it would say something like: Known Issues: User Interface- The User Interface is not finalized and will be finished by final release
uttaresh The Penguin Master Profil: Penguin Pro | That's the favicon right out of CrystalXP.net .... Hope it's allowed! Quote :

I take it you mean the next, previous, update, and exit icons? That's because I haven't really decided which icons to use; they're just rough versions. Quote :

What do you mean? It looks OK to me...

That could be done, but it would mean another "Preview" picture of each tux of a much smaller size. Of course, we haven't really decided HOW this is going to be a game, so I'm waiting till then. Does everyone who download get all the tuxes or what? That would be boring, I seriously think we need to do something to make it more interesting. Anyway, would anyone like to help me speed things up? First, simply download the PSD I've attached for the title name's image. Type in the name, save it as a PNG and upload it to the internet. Next, you need the Image URL of the tux (256x256 only) and then a description. After you have these three things, fill them out in this code. ONLY TYPE THE APPROPRIATE STUFF INSIDE THE QUOTES. CODEauthorLabel.Text = "--- Tux Creator's name"; TuxBox.ImageLocation = @"URL of Tux Image in 256x256"; titleBox.ImageLocation = @"URL of Title picture (PSD attached)"; DescriptionLabel.Text = "Description for Tux in less than 275 characters"; After you have it, post it here so I can insert into the program.
uttaresh The Penguin Master Profil: Penguin Pro | Just an update: - Created automatic Word Wrap for the Description Text (took me some time). Now I don't have to worry about keeping the description text's nextline/Enter characters. The system handles it, so we don't have to worry about anything flowing out. Just type in the description as you'd like ... just make sure it's less than 275 characters. - TuxCards now contains the following tuxes: ----> Original G2 Tux ----> Duff-Tux ----> Wall-E ----> Chewbacca ----> Gandalf ----> Goku ----> Indiana Jones ----> Lara Croft ----> King Leonidas ----> Rambo ----> Knights Templar
ghostnatyphon Who Dares Wins Profil: Penguin Pro | Amazing progress! The Wall-e tux on mine the description and author also goes out of the card space, it's still in the card, but it extends over the border.
