Hi fellas!

I need some help on the installation of Paint.net.  What I'm having a problem with is the installation of Microsoft Net.Framework 2.0.  First of all I'm using XP, my machine came with the the necessary Service Packs (2) and I have Net.Framwork 1.1.  I uninstalled it before and ran a registry cleaner afterward to prep my p.c. for a clean install of Framwork 2.0, but I ran into a major problem and didn't set a restore point, my start menu wouldn't work.  I did a system recovery and things are fine.  What I want to know is if I install 2.0 without removing 1.1 will it just overwrite the original version?  I plan on setting a restore point if I do this but wanted some advice from anyone whose had experiences with things of this kind.  I really want to use Paint.net.  Can someone get back to me?  THanks!! :happy2:

Hi !
Uninstalled Net.Framework 1.1 was your mistake, you can have Net.Framework 2.0, even Net.Framework 3.5 installed on your computer, and they don't overwrite each other.
But for an example, some plugins of the Desktop Sidebar (DS) program need Net.Framework 1.1 to work, and some plugin need Net.Framework 2.0. ....

So you're saying that they won't interfere or clash with each other?  Are you running more than one version on your pc.?

Yes, 1.1 and 2.0 are installed on my computer (see image), you must have 1.1 because some windows applications or programs need it, and it the same for 2.0 some recent programs need it, and shortly we probably have to install 3.5, if some new programs need it !  :oui:

Thank you so much for the screen shot, I now feel confident about installing it.   I was very nervous about doing anything at all with it after the last disaster!
