Well I'm thinking about releasing a new wallpaper pack and I was wondering how it looks.

http://i548.photobucket.com/albums/ii343/AquaOrb/ATravelingGlow.jpg

The style is the third type of travel style by petercui on deviant art. It's only similar as I do not have photoshop and so it was hard to reproduce a similar result. It's currently in blue and red and I'm wondering what other colours to do it in. Suggestions are appreciated!

Dimensions 1680x1050.

Nice work. :great: I always get a 'hmm-hmm' feeling with gradients like you used for the background. Is it really any better then a solid background color?

I like that kind of colour. That particular gradient. I don't usually opt for single colour backgrounds. I like gradation.

I also agree with what Aqua says
Gradiations make me feel like new or something revolutionary and sometimes Gradiated background alone without any other special effects techniques can make a wonderful graphic (but there should be some other objects :mdr: )

But some instances I justify with the solid background colors specially when I'm using more than one layers for the background (I choose the main background to be solid) I become a bit classical then

(Also as PS/Gimp users we also know that there are ways to gradiate the background without using the gradient  )

Ummm ... I don't know any. :/

Unless you take the Line tool and draw each line in a different color and gradually create the gradient. :o

Well, gradiation is not always a linear thing ;)
Imagine you do have solid background in one color and one circle (or any other shape) in another color, (in two layers) So what if we give Gaussian Blur to the circle in excess amount :)
Or you can do certain amount of gradiation with the 'brush tool' ;)

Offtopic* :ar: Hey, uttaresh that what you have quoted  is posted by me :grrrrrr:  How come 'Aqua Crystal Write'?? :o    Maybe you've got in trouble with the Editor  :boulay:

OK, it's Neil wrote : now.

And it's funny how I forgot about Gaussian blur ... I always use it to make shadows... :he:

Nice effect :) I think if you use a bit darker color at bottom then you will get somewhat better outcome ;)

Here it is in red. I'm not so wild about this. Any new colour suggestions? These are the only two so far.

You know I was thinking green as well. I'll go give it a try.

Wow, that came out better than I thought. What about orange? Orange always livens things up

I will prefer the blue or red one
The green one seems to be too light
(I know that green is the finest color for the eyes but here I think it's too bightened ;) )

Well if you think green is too bright Neil then maybe I shouldn't go near orange. Personally no matter how hard I try I can't see orange working at all.

Oh! don't be Aqua Crystal What I meant was the brightness is more in green but it's not with the color
You can greatly reduce this by putting a little more darker color to the bottom gradient part of the background ;) (This will work for both Orange & Green)

I don't want to do that because that makes the colour different in ways I don't want to. Perhaps a darker hue might work. I'll look into it.
