ive finally got the background settings right but i cant get the same emboss styles you have

Looks easy to me. Just use an Outer Bevel at a 0 degrees angle.

Looks pretty good. Too bad the 'g' isn't very sharp.

My guess is he either enlarged a non-vector shape, or that he -- for some reason -- put an outer glow around it.

I believe it's an enlarged non-vector image. Or as we simpletons say, an enlarged image. Looks like he's blurred it slightly to hide the aliasing on the edges.

They're not trying to be unfriendly but where just kidding around. I hope this didn't offend you. They where right however that you can create a new thread for your collection of icons. Or post them in the Icon Box if you prefer! Have a nice stay and lets all be friendly.

Ok i'm sorry, i take my words back. I thought it was just an icon thread. But sharing my icons wouldnt have hurt though.

Maybe post in the Icon box or start your own thread in graphic release

what seettings dod you use ??? im really annoyed it tryed about 10 different combos just now and i still cant get the proper effect!

Easy
 
Layer 1 :    
Layer 2 :    (copy of Layer 1) + Noise (400 %, Gaussien + Monocromatic)
Then apply Radial Blur, Zoom Maximal
If there's grains (bad aspect), enter Ctrl+F one or twice times
Then, use    for paint in black the center, and use Gaussian Blur
 
And create "chopping mask" (?), or "masque d'écrêtage" in Fr, on the Layer 1
