Hey Ghost, feel fully free to use your Critisizer 3000 , don't make a wait for next post just tell me out what is wrong, i really need suggestions to improve myself

I dunno what to criticise... the shadow under the main bit doesn't seem right, too thin.

The white-transparent gradient on the black inner ring of the lens bit looks like a radial gradient, I think a linear would be better there. Or if it is a linear perhaps a slightly longer one and then with a lower opacity, just seems too small and fades too fast.

The angle of the right hand black part, with the power light, seems like the perspective isn't right, looks like it's folded slightly upwards.

And the power light looks odd next to the black button because they are done differently, the power light is like an LED but the circle button is elliptical... they look odd next to each other.

That's all my critisizer 3000 can find That is a really nice icon though

Most parts of that camera icon look really good. Did you made all of that yourself? The power button is looking strange, as well as the video screen. The video screen because of the bend in the part below it. The shadow below the real camera part is looking a bit funny as well. The rest of the icon looks very realistic!

Thanks Gruzz , and yeah each and every pixel is home made , the curve is also present in actual DCR-HC38 handycam, so i made it like that, i also give rectangle a try.

Ghost ,i will  get rid of power button, and the bar is actually folded upward in actual DCR-HC38 handycam, i worked very hard to pop up that thing

Heck if that's how it really is, keep it! I had assumed it was flat in the actual thing, so I didn't realise it was delieberate I shall have to google the HandyCam (Then I can reload my critisizer 3000 )

I think they're too detailed to be called "Icons" any more. They're ... not icons.

Oh I dunno about too detailed, especially if you use them on a dock. They're too big to be icons really, but not too detailed.

1. They are still icons and i can prove it

In this image same handycam icon in two sizes(first two) in a thumbnail view along with it's pre and post psd files(that's why the two looks distorted) and is looking pretty normal (neither distorted nor quenched to be disliked)

2.In this image the same handycam icon in .ico format along with other folder icons, and i think anyone i mean anyone can find and identify the handycam folder with that icon even without goggles and again there is no distortion, what i mean it has worked normal as like other icons.

3. I am a Biotechnologist (B.Engg in Biotech) and all i have to do with graphics is 3D Modelling of Biomolecules (Proteins in particular), a part of my whole work , which i do in Cn3D, SwissPDB viewer and 3Ds Max and i use photoshop (the other work i do earlier is resizing and resampling) for coloring of that. I came to CrystalXp in search for Vista Drive Icons eventually i registered that time and the tuto of "steel and glass icon" lit a spirit of making icons in me and then i took it as my hobby.
I don't have a lot of time but do this whenever i have free time and the reason is "i want to refine my knowledge and to raise the glow of eyes of my mates at CrystalXp"

And just like other excellent guys/artist/designer out here i don't make icons for any type of profit(as they also don't want any profits for their work), the only thing is in my mind is that "my mates will like it" that's all, i just try to put some good work in front of you guys/gals without being bounded in hard rules.

4. As i mentioned earlier i made all icons in 600x600 or some in 500x500 and i will resize them all to somewhere around 256x256 also, @uttaresh, you may need to learn a bit of resampling of images

my friend it's not your fault at all , what u said is pretty obvious (no one can dream about that folded bar), even if i am at your place I'll say the same thing , however i agree that mine is more folded than the actual one but i failed to lower the angle so i left it like that (i am not so experienced yet )

Well spoken, and wow a biotechnologist, that must be fairly interesting (Personally I doubt it would interest me )

Well I take back what I said about the icons beign too big, it makes sense now that you make them in bigger sizes, as that allows you to get better detail, and then you can resize them and they still look good The handycam icon looks good amongst those folders

One word of advice: Never put the word final when saving a version of an icon, as there is always a chance you might go back and change just one little thing, or even lots of things. Naming something with "final" in it is never a good idea

Wow , that handycam is amazing it's very detailed one thing you should remember while making icons , the bigger and the complexer the icons is the more are the chances of errors in it here are somethings which I would suggest you for your handycam :

-> keep the text 'SONY' on the right side simply white and remove black shade

-> Remove inner-shadow from the picture on screen or just decrease it's size to 1px

-> Fix the shadow

-> Try to fix aliasing from different elements of the screen

The length of my suggestion is longer this time simply because of the size of your icon

Finally i made the Mouse Icon

That mouse is awesome, i like the wheel

Looks good

One thing, the mouse buttons don't look raised next to the front part (Silver and Red light thingy) it looks like it's flat, on the same level, not raised, just looks weird to me

And the colours look slightly... bland, possibly because of the scroll wheel (Which looks amazing )... might be they look kinda cartoonish, no... um... bother what's the word... they look kind of... flat... I dunno...

I'm going to come back later when I work out how to explain

The mouse look fantastic but if you fix it it will be 10/10

Looking a lot better

Looks pretty good. You can improve the side of the mouse, as well as the front light. Those are the two area's that have got the most problems left at the moment.

the mouse is looking good work on wheel you need to fix the shadow too, it's cut from bottom

Perhaps though the glass could be better, by having an effect on the letter seen through it? Like, if you look through a pane of glass at something like a letter, from an angle, the bit of the letter you see through the glass would be displaced, like it was too far down or too far to one side, or slightly thicker or thinner than the actual thing... or blurred.
