I'm creating my first ever icon-pack: Black.  

It doesn't mean everything's black... it just means that it's supposed to go with Black-coloured computers... preferably running Windows Vista.  

As it's my first time, I'll be needing a lot of help!

EDIT - I now see the shadow is missing. I have to sleep now, but I'll correct it tomorrow ASAP.

You have took a bold step , your first icon is pretty good but you need to fix aliasing good luck for the pack

Yeah, I don't get WHY there is aliasing... I used the Shape tool...

it's not for a shape to be completely anti-aliased , sometimes you have to reduce aliasing by using other methods in case of your icon , the aliasing is more prominent because of the difference of the color of icon and background

Ah, so maybe some sort of Blur? That would work... but I'd have to rasterize the layer...

Anyhow, here's one for Firefox!

Pretty simple. Just desaturated and darkened the fox, added a shine to the fox and a simple reflection to the globe and the edges.

EDIT - Voila! The folder icon! It looks a bit like the Crystal XP icon pack one, yes -- but I have made it entirely myself.

Nice folder. Have you made the Firefox icon entirely yourself, or just edited an existing icon? Good luck with your pack! I hope that you'll learn a lot from it.

I took the logo from Firefox's site, and then:

You have to work the  reflection on the globe Else, the computer & the folder are quite nice

I agree as well. Although I must say that the small Tux on the printer looks a bit weird.

That's the company logo.

I think he meant that the tux looks as it were deeper than the cover (instead of on the surface)

I think that has to do with the difference in the light source.

Love the printer.  That is quite stunning.

The mouse! I made this one look like my own mouse: The Logitech MX510

Of course, I replaced the Logitech logo with a Tux.

PS - My icons may not look so good on the forums, but try to use them in RocketDock.

That's a good one but it seems that you have used 'Bevel & Emboss' effect on every button which gives a bit unreal look to it , also the shadow needs to be improved

True, I did use Bevel and Emboss on all three buttons, but that's exactly how they are in my actual mouse!

How do I improve the shadow??

In your case , the light would probably be on upper right side so the shadow must go downward-left, the simple way of doing this is to give the main layer mild 'drop-shadow' if this doesn't work then just give me the icon without shadow , I'll make it for you

As it seems to me all 4 sides are cut actually................ overall good icon
