Well I've decided I'm going to try making my first dock icon set. I was wondering what you thought about what I have so far. I'm not to great so anything really hard I probably won't do. Any tips are really welcome! Also if you have any ideas for a set name that would be nice.

You should try to make a consistent style. Go for one base, and then just change the color and the image inside it. The one with the P in it hasn't got an outside border for example. That's probably the main idea of an set, to make a consistent style. A name like '3D Office Icons' sounds fine to me? :oui: About the icons, pretty nice. But still room for improvement of course. Well I know that you're a beginner so that's a good job.

I can see them alright. Perhaps the host, HotlinkFiles was down for a while or is blocked on your current computer? :happy2:

Thank you all for the nice comments and help. The whole point of the icons is that they look like the originnal on my desktop. Therefore the style is 3D rounded corner and office because these are the consistant things. However there is still a lot of work to be done on the publisher one because that actually went wrong and I haven't gotten around to redoing it. Gandof I do like your idea od adding a shadow which shoulw be easily accomplished thanks to layers and trasparency!

Well thanks! I'll be posting the adjusted versions soon along with a new icon.  :happy2:

For the shadow I would suggest you something like
this:

or this:

And one more thing, The aliasing is killing the icons!

I suggest that you don't use the perspective tool but the pen tool, it will reduce aliasing.
The shadows are cutted and they are too much strong.
You may find my comment negative but i'm just telling you how to make it better.
Try also to use some more gradients and vary the tones of colour.

Anyway, it's very good for a first tryout. :great:
I say that because before i only knew how to make small manips. :beurk:

The first one I had difficulty with. The second I didn't think of and perhaps I will try it. I didn't think the shadow was to dark until I had uploaded them (typical).

As for the aliasing I'm afraid I'm useless at getting rid of that once it's done so it may be a while before that's fixed (perhaps in the final icons?).
