May I ask how using Photoshop according to you requires no work? And clearly you believe GIMP actually requires work? I have used both and I can assure you, for me, Photoshop requires more, or at least as much, effort - it certainly doesn't do everything for you with one click

Its requires work indeed, they both do. But PS is more... "FX" based in my sight. But well, these are nice icons I don't try to tell the opposite... but well.. I don't know its just to "automated" for my liking ;D  But well, other people seems to like it and that's good :>

You're obviously forgetting that Photoshop is much more powerful and the standard for graphics professionals everywhere. It is not easier, in fact it's more difficult. GIMP is just for people who're too naive to realize that spending more money usually gets better results. You can find these nuts on their 25 year old Amigas. They stick with GIMP and then cry about works created in Photoshop, criticizing the level of quality even though their own art is far worse.

PS: Photoshop does not make gloss effects; it does not make anything easier. I don't know much of GIMP, but Photoshop is NOT easy.

PPS: I am not talking about you. Ghost can verify this by reading my post.

Did I cry? no.  I can't imagine to pay 1000:- for a computer program :> Gonns stick with Gimp as long as I can, and want to. Used PS when I where younger, like it pretty much but then I got Gimp ^^  
 
PS: PS (hahaha) does have a plug-in thingy? ... I guess you can download pretty much a "gloss FX" I'm not trying to convince you guys that I think PS is like... draw a line and *click* glossy n' Shiny 2000! I know most "gloss" FX are made by selection and gradient tools :>  
Well. Not gonna argue about this any more since I don't give a crap what other thinks, I use Gimp, cause I like it, and its free. Use, it's a nice program and I've seen some amazing stuff done with it.

Methods on GIMP and PS are basically the same, onlt differences I ever found in how I used them was the fact I could never find the right tool on GIMP because the images confused me
