I need a hand finishing my home made wallpaper. I have a problem. After finishing making the wall paper i applied it and, well look at the image and you will see that that the icons have a blue haze surrounding them. I want to get rid of this but have no idea how to do this..... can you help me. I am using fireworks 2004 to make it. Thanks....

This has got nothing to do with your wallpaper.

There are several way this can be fixed, I'm sorry but you'll have to try all steps. :frown:

1. Right click the desktop -> properties -> desktop ->customize desktop ->web -> lock desktop items should be unchecked
2. Right click the desktop -> arrange icons by -> lock web items on desktop should be unchecked
3. Right click the desktop -> arrange icons by -> align to grid should be checked
(I might get off the right terms now, my computer isn't English)
4. Right click My Computer -> Advanced tab -> click the settings button in the first category -> select 'Best appearance' -> click apply.

When I had this problem step 4 worked for me, so maybe you want to try that one first. Good luck! Come back if you fixed your problem or you've got any troubles! :loveit:

One more solution I know of: With step 1, 2 and 3. Try doing the opposite of what's described in my previous post. After you've done this, do as I said. For some people this fixed the problem.

i am sure it can be done by right click the screen, go to display properties and go to wallpaper option and there on the right hand botton you can set the background colors of the icons of the desktop.

i am sorry my explanations may vary as i also am not using an English OS.  :meuh:

This will indeed change the color surrounding the icons. But you'll still have a color (white/blue/black/etc.) surrounding your icons, so it's not helping much.

There could be two possible reasons for such problem ,

1. You have disabled the "Use Drop Shadows for icon Labels on desktop" effect
2. You are applying an image other than jpg or jpeg on your desktop.

Solution for 1st reason :

Right -click on 'My Computer' icon and select 'Properties' from menu , switch to 'Advance' tab and click 'Settings' button in 'Performance' section , thereby enable this effect:

Solution for 2nd reason :

If the wallpaper , you are applying on your desktop , is in an extension other than jpg/jpeg than you will have to save it first as a jpeg/jpg image file  , to do so , open it in any graphic editor and save it as jpg/jpeg , apply it then and you will have no problem :happy2: .

BTW , Welcome to Crystal XP  .
