Wow that's nice, it's the charcoal filter effect? Maybe the lower part looks better with a line around it.

How about removing Bevel & Emboss effect from the symbols of both the reflection icons and giving them Outer Glow instead , do this for making colors sharper.

Ctrl+Click on the base rectangular layer and fill the selection with any color on a new layer , place this new layer above the base layer.Go to the blending options of the new layer and in the Gradient Overlay option , set a radial gradient with white color at the center and black color around , set the Blending Mode of the Gradient Overlay to Overlay .

I hope this will reform your icon a little bit .

I am doing something wrong. I dont get any effect..  Rather a get a white picture like in the screenshot.

Can you please tell me where i am doing wrong. If I am right, the effect you told me brings a bit of glow in the center making the image looks better. Please help!

oh yes , actually my mistake , reduce the fill opacity of new layer to 0% .

I consider this icon by best one till now. It's a spartan shield, based on the movie "300". I made this icon from scratch and didn't use any custom brushes. I'm pretty happy with the outcome.

I tried to remove the alliasing but I didn't succeed on that yet. Please give me tips how I should do this.

I plan on doing more 300 based icons, but please give comments on this one first.
