| Labyrinth Profil: New Penguin | Hello, i'm looking for a transparent notepad or text editor in which only the text and statusbar is opaque. For the rest 100% transparency is applied. I'd like an application like notepad to resemble a transparent xterm. Here's an example: I've encountered many tranparency programs but none that can recreate this. Any ideas? | |

I'm using XP. In the photo is Gnome.
ghostnatyphon Who Dares Wins Profil: Penguin Pro | Hm... I can't find any already done by people, and the only code I can find isn't working
Asher Genius is not born , it is made.... Profil: Moderator | I know of some softwares that make windows completely transparent but that's not exactly what you want , I think that can be done only by a WB theme
ghostnatyphon Who Dares Wins Profil: Penguin Pro | Well it can be done in code, as in new text editor... I do have a few text editors, though they are almost all a fair bit more than a simple notepad, and almost all half finished... but I've no idea how I'd make the text area totally transparent... only code I can find is outdated, and I've no idea how to change, otherwise I'd just make one (VB/VC# 08)
Labyrinth Profil: New Penguin | All I need is the "Window Color" (dispaly properties --> appearance --> advanced --> [click on active empty window] ) to be 100% transparent. If there was a global system color in XP for "transparent" i'd be in business. Yes i've already tried hot pink just in case. Any idea on how to implement this? There must be a way.
ghostnatyphon Who Dares Wins Profil: Penguin Pro | The .net text box/rich text box doesn't allow to have its backcolor as transparent by default.
AndyQHW Profil: New Penguin | Install Linux (I'd recommend Ubuntu) and Compiz, for windows, you could probably do something similar in DWM, no clue about XP though. And BTW, XTerm is a command line, not a text editor
Labyrinth Profil: New Penguin | I know what xterm is. From original post: "I'd like an application like notepad to resemble a transparent xterm." Of course this would be a non-issue with linux. I'm asking about Microsoft Windows XP. There must be a way to implement this..., even if I have to learn how to program a shell replacement. Would it be possible to add a picture file into the background of for example "My Computer"? If so then all that would be needed is png support and a solid transparent picture (no one likes hot pink eh?). There's got to be a way...
