I've been attempting my hand at Adobe Photoshop CS3 but unfortunately i just know too little to make anything substantial at the moment; but very keen to keep on learning till i get it right!
But right now i need some assistance please transforming 1 of the logos and drafting the other logo from some an idea i have.
The first one i really need quite a bit of help with; the idea that i have is that a the logo has a base which looks like a standard barcode and from this barcode comes a tree with branches and maybe some leaves. The tree would be similiar to the graphic below but i'm thinking maybe more organic:

And i'm maybe thinking of colors such as green or blue; but ideally something that has the crystalised technique to it.
The second one i just need some help revamping the icon so it looks more modern, sleek, professional with a crystal touch to it as well.
I wouldn't want to change the image too much, retaining its basic structure and colors (blue/yellow (preferably replaced by gold)):

I would really appreciate any assistance, since my own attempts came out a bit "rough around the edges" 
Really looking forward to learning how to do this myself! Any advice would be appreciated!
O and size-wise i was thinking anywhere between 250x250 or maybe 350x350 with a transparent background?
