I would say use a blue background with the same border and texture.

y1n14i11, Try to use the .png versions for your Avatar & Signatures

And your Avatar outline is somewhat blended with the forum thread background
I suggest you to use another outline colour and then use Smudge Tool (in Photoshop)

And for your Signature, i feel like it's some what empty
The reflection you've used for the sig is covering the 'THE ONE AND ONLY' text and it's cut off is covered by the black arcs So it might undo the real look of a reflective cut off. The outline of the 'PM-G' is good and the inner glow is also ok

your sign is too large, it's 320x80 pixel on CrystalXP

y1n14i11 I'm afraid that the Signatures allowed in Crystal XP are 320x80 But do not shrink your images since it might harm their quality Try to do a new one with those dimensions

Nice, but I was thinking that you use the blue you used for the border as the background colour, and white and dark grey combination for the border.
 
Like Neil said, you need to pay attention to contrast.
