| xsran Profil: New Penguin | Please guide me how Visual Styles work. What to do after downloading it? Thanks | |
Xorios Profil: Penguin Pro | This question has already been answered many times. You must copy all extracted files on C:\WINDOWS\Resources\Themes ! If it doesn't work, you will have to patch your UXTheme.dll (to do this, just download and run Neowin.net Multi-Pacher). Note that if you have installed a BricoPack, it's already done. This is how to install a "normal" visual style. If you were speaking about vista 1.2, you must have installed Windowblinds (the transparency effect needs the complete ($19.95) version). I hope it will help you. And welcome on CrystalXP.

I have done exactly as outlined. Except, my theme/style is with an extension .msstyle. It does not work. I have the latest Bricopack installed so I am assuming UXtheme.dll is patched. However, I have also tried with the Newwin unxtheme patcher, but i don't get any style except the 'Windows Classic' one. Is there a way to 'check' if there's something wrong?

Normally yes, did you have the BricoPack visual style? KenP wrote :

As I have already said, try different uxtheme patchers. Some are more efficient in certain conditions. Maybe try this one. Good luck.
