Just wondering if anyone could show me some nifty things I could try and do with text, and not always just typing it..but drawing it I guess?
I want to learn to make things like this:

The text on the image is not necessarily hand-drawn , you can use different fonts for achieving a result of similar quality :oui: a lot of them can be found here

Oh thank you, but in the background the curved line.. how did that person achieve that?

when i try to draw lines they are never smooth and so elegant looking; they always look choppy and kinda messy..

I suspect they used the pen tool... you could do endless curves with that and then stroke it... oh the evil pen tool

It's not stupid at all , infact it's one powerful tool of PS , you just need to practice it in order to know its importance :jap:

It's not that brilliant, as sadly I can't get the ends of the curves to taper... I've used brush and simulate pressure just like I always do... but different result... I'll have to go back to the vista wallpapers tutorial and check.

I made my avatar with help from a tutorial, I'll post the link if I can find it.

http://www.google.com/search?client=opera&...-8&oe=utf-8

That's the one, thoug hit wont load in my browser... Opera is very tempermental... But since IE is annoying and FF wont work I have no choice  It's not that bad anywho.

If it doesn't work try going to the site (www.psdtuts.com) and then locating it that way.

Actually, I think it's really easy and helpful If you master it, you can use it to make just about any shape you want. Then you can even resize to a much larger (or smaller) size without losing any quality and without getting any aliasing. For example, my Batman tux, found in the link below, was made ENTIRELY with the Pen Tool.

You made that entirely with the pen tool? Minus the crystallisations I suspect

That is truly amazing... I can barely draw lines with the pen tool

It is a hard one to master.

Well, I did not make the original tux, of course.

I mean everything else: The Bat-Suit, his muscles, his cape, boots, mask, ears, etc.

And yes, minus the gradients and shadows.
