[Photoshop tutorial] Shiny Orb button

This Tutorial closely relates to: How to make a Porthole

 

Here we will tell you how to make a Shiny-orb-website-button in photoshop.

 

[1] Take a new file of 400 pixels, 400 pixels, of resolution 72 dpi in the RGB mode.

[2] Take the Gradient Tool use these settings.

[3] Fill the Background with the help of Gradient Tool, then take the Elliptical Marquee Tool, make a new layer create a shape and fill with Black color.

[4] Go to Blending Option use the following settings.

[6] Create a new shape with the help of Elliptical Marquee Tool.

[7] Now go to Blending Option use the following settings.

[9] Now Cntl+Clink on this layer to make the selection.

[10] Take the Elliptical Marquee Tool use these settings.

[12] Go to Select>Feather Selection.

[13] Make a new layer and fill the selection with White color.

[14] Now change the Blending Mode to Overlay.

Nice tutorial. :oui: Although I think the last step(s) is very bad? The last white reflection is not really improving your work for me. :angel: Well thanks for the tutorial, I think it might be helpful for some people! :smile:

I agree with Gruzz. You should Google Photoshop tutorials and learn how to make reflections. There are many ways to create reflections depending on the object you are making. Not all reflections will look good on any object.

Well i think it looks good. :oui: a few people may use this.

 

From which step does it get bad?

 

Ps: It isn't of of those basic light reflections, its more just for the "shine"

I'd say step 16, 17 and 18 gives your image a bad shine look. :oui:

I think it would be better if the selected area was a little wider but shorter and instead of a gradient, use more of layer styles to get the gradient, because it is really a little to bright.  And it is a little bit off center as well.  Otherwise I think it is a good tutorial :smile:
