Hi Folfs,

I have a slight translation problem I need some help with.

The PaintShop Pro tutorial says:

4. Create a new layer called "Left eye". Set these colors :
Foreground: R:230 j'ai:230 B:230 (or #E6E6E6)
Background: R:201 j'ai:201 B:201 (or #C9C9C9)
Use the gradient tool with the same setting as on step 2, and draw a gradient from the top of the selection to its bottom

5. Double-click on the layer's thumbnail, and then click on inner glow. There you can see a little square filled with light-yellow, double click on it and choose this color : R:141 j'ai:141 B:141 (or #8D8D8D). As for the blending mode, choose Multiply, and finally put the size on 16 pixels.

6. Repeat steps 4 and 5 for the right eye.

The GIMP tutorial says:

-------
I'm using The Gimp and  have both tutorials open to help with my limited French.

In Step 4 I notice the colours are different for the foreground and background.  I ended up using the colours from the PSP version by mistake.
Will it make a difference?

Also as you see from my attachment, I'm on Step 5.
Obviously I cannot "Double-click on the layer's thumbnail, and then click on inner glow." from the PSP tutorial.

Would someone be so kind as to translate The Gimp Step 5 to English for me, I'm at a total loss here.

I read it as:
Create a new layer " ?? right eye", "make / do" <selection - reduce>, enter 7 pixels, and replace the #dedbde.
From this point on I'm at a dead loss - I recognize two words: flou gaussien - gaussien blur - I think.  :frown:

Please help, I've spent about 8 hours, with countless Ctrl-Z's, getting this far due to language differences and program differences and I'm a total newbie to The GIMP as well.  Well, to be honest, a total newbie to creating anything really in any program, that why the +/-8 hours.

Thanks, geeze, and on the day before Christmas Eve too.
Am I asking too much?  Maybe, but on the chance someone is here.

Respectfully,
Bruce Milmine

EDIT:  OOPPS! :fouet: <-- Yes, I said the "oopps" word! The  :666: made me do it!
I tried to continue, and not sure what happened but, I accidently closed my working copy without saving, now I have to start all over again.
I'll have to wait until some kind person helps me with this problem before I can get past this point.
Also it eliminates the "Will it make a difference?" question above, as I will be more careful next time and use the settings for The GIMP.
