First I'll show you my finished result which look like an ordinary picture. (Highlight it- only works in internet explorer)
http://img236.imageshack.us/img236/2091/kool2or1.jpg

1. Create a new document. Make it 2x2 pixels, 72 pixels per inch and a white background. Then with the pencil tool(black colour, size 1), make 2 dots and the top left and bottom right corner. Make sure to zoom in to see the canvas.

2. Then go to edit-define pattern and name it something such as checkerboard pattern.

3. Then create a new document that is any size, 72 pixels per inch on a white background. Fill it with a colour such as a blue with the paint bucket tool. Make sure the backgorund colour is black and go to filter-render-clouds.

(If you want or better effect to hide the image, go to filter-noise-add noise)
4. Then make 2 new layers by pressing ctrl-shift-n and drag the layer we were working with to the top. If you cannot move the layer because it is a background layer, duplicate the layer by going to layer-duplicate layer, and then deleting the background layer.

5. Now on the middle layer, go to edit-fill. For 'use' select pattern. In custom pattern , choose the pattern we made in step 1. mode is normal and opacity is 100%.

6. Change this layer to 'exclusion'. (In the layers pallette, the mode should be on normal, change it to exclusion)

7. Then on the top layer put your image or text. Rasterize the layer if you used text. Press ctrl-i to invert the layer. Change the opacity to around 75% and save your image as a jpeg. To open the image up in internet explorer, hold shift then right click an go to ' open with...' and open it with internet explorer. Highlight the image.

NOTE: Note that you can use an image or text for cover up image(mine was the clouds) or the hidden image which would make a nice way of sending secret messages.
To view final result, highlight the image in internet explorer (doesn't work in firefox).

Hope you like my first tutorial that I am posting and I'm new to crystalxp.net.
