The future of the English section

Hello everyone,

First my apologies for putting this topic here. I know it's not the right section, but I prefer to have this topic in the English section so we're sure everyone can see it. As you can see, this is a poll. And as you know, you'll be able to vote in a poll. This means, everyone can vote in the poll. And the vote of a Moderator is as heavy as the vote of a normal member. But I would like to ask you something first. Please do not vote if you are not going to participate in the English section. This is important, since the future members should decide about it instead of people who will never have a look here. There are 1000 more questions we've to discuss about in the future, but for now, I think these are the most important!

I can fully understand the people who think this will take the English and the French section out of each other completely. I think (and hope) that we will never be completely separate. I always encourage and love it when French people try to mix with the English people.  :loveit:

Choose wisely.

Sometimes I participe in the english section so i decided to vote :oui: and i was the first to vote :he:

In theory "coconut island" & "speak with the team" are in the "crystaliseurs community" part of the forum (so there are internationnal)

:ar:

Quote :

You're here in a bilingual section, please respect the language used in each topic.

but in reality, the majority of topics and posts are in french, so i think it will be better to have the same topics for the french (in french part) & for the english (in english part) :oui:

Moreover, it's the same thing for the contest part, we never saw an english, it is sad :err:

I agree with you when you siad "I think (and hope) that we will never be completely separate"

I hope you understand what i would say (because my english is bad :beurk: )

Don't worry, we understand what you say! It's great if you try. And I agree, there is no english activity in the Contest section at all. But I'm not sure if it's smart to open an English Contest section, for two reasons. 1: There are not that much English members who will participate. 2: I think the Contest section is one of the best opportunities to keep the English and French section together. But as I said, it is one of the other 1000 questions.

Do you think a section has to be added to the English section with topics like 'Rules' 'Speak with the Team'?
Yes, that would be nice.

Do you think a section has to be added to the English section with topics like 'Introduce yourself' and other topics you can find in the Coconut Island?
I'm not sure.

You are probably right :oui: but i didn't want to open an english contest section :non: . but even an english wants to participate, he will have two problems :
1/ the statement of the contest is in french so it is hard for an english to understand exactly this one :err:
2/ the gift should be envoyed in metropolitan France :err:

I'm sure we'll find something for it. But lets not make this topic about that subject now, ok?

Edit: I think an introduction topic would be good because new members would be more eager to join. Besides, we learn something about them too.

My answer for both the questions would be yes :oui: , the International part of the community is clouded with French topics so it could not be a perfect place for English members to post what they want.
The Contest topic would also be of great interest , I will surely participate in it :oui: .

I'm french, so I'm not going to vote, but I think for the the topics of Coconut and "Introduce yourself" that special topics in the english section are not necessary for at least two reasons :

- first, most of the moderators, the administrator, etc (if not all) are able to speak english and to understand what english people could write in these topics
- second, these topics are in the international section, and so they are made in order that everyone could post in his language (german, french, english, spanish...)

Eventually, speaking about the contests, what about sending a P.M. to didas or dlb, asking whether they could also redact them in english ?

Well, one doesn't participate to contests only for the tiny-shirt...
Better compete (even if one knows that one won't win a tiny-shirt) than not... I think

Someone has voted that both would be very bad without giving an explanation. Please tell us why you voted for your choice.

They do speak and understand English but it seems they are less active in English section then they are in French section.

But I think that at least one Admin should be assigned to English Section because he has sovereignty which moderators do not have , he can understand the needs of English section and can make recommendations for it in a better way.
BTW , there are only two English moderators left for this Section (Gruzz,Breakfastclub) , disko(sparc0) deserted the community long time ago .

As I consider 'Rules' 'Speak with the Team' and topic like that important, I voted Yes, we really need this..
As for topics like 'Introduce yourself', I think they are there more for fun, and for meeting each other, so I think it should stay in International section. About that, I voted No, that's not necessary. :great:

Don't you think it's nice if new English forum members can introduce themselves?

I think the "Introduce Yourself" topic must be there in English Section because when different languages mix-up the members find it hard to recognize others' comments, the English members avoid the International Section as it can be seen that most of them are unaware of each others age,name,location..etc so I think this needs some attention :oui:
