Yes, here is the step by step guide:

Go to My Controls (Near the upper right of the screen).
In the Menu on the left, click Edit Avatar Settings/Edit Signature Settings.
You can then choose an basic avatar from the gallery, or put in the link of your own image host. There are several free image hosts. For example ImageShack!

@ Gruzz. This topic (about adding avatars and signature) has been asked so many times on the forums by so many other new users.

any possibility of posting these instruction on a (locked) pinned thread, or on guidelines etc.  

I think it will help people and also prevent making new threads for the same question.  

Good idea. I think there should be made another English forum part. We can have the Speak with the team, New member topic, Birthday topic, and Rules + Information (for example signatures) topic in there. If you think this is a good idea, let me know.

WOW. you read mind.  I was thinking of this. May be something like what you suggested + something like coconut island on French forums. It would be great to have such a thing on English forums.  

In fact, the Coconut Island is in the International Section. Just like the Graphic Selection forum. So if you want, you can talk English there.
