I am beginner to Photoshop or any other graphic software. Basically I am a programmer. For designing
some user interface of a software I need to create some patterns shown below as those horizontal lines
with different colors. Can some body help me creating them .Please show each and every steps. Is there any Photoshop filter or a plugin that can be used. I am attaching the sample file as attachment.

Well with Photoshop you should make a transparent document 10x10

file>>new>height-10 width-10

Background contents > transparent

Get a 1px white pencil and draw from left to right missing 1 block each time after you have finished that go to edit>define pattern.

Then when you want to fill a area with that pattern choose your paint bucket tool then @ the top you will see forground colour change that to pattern then click the little box next to it then choose your pattern and simply click the picture you want to fill
