uttaresh The Penguin Master Profil: Penguin Pro | Wow, that's tiny. For a larger image, the procedure is simple. Use a combination of the eraser, magic wand, and lasso tools. Don't know what you can do here ... probably use the eraser to remove each pixel separately. Shouldn't take too much time, considering it's only a few pixels in area. ---------------

uttaresh The Penguin Master Profil: Penguin Pro | I told you, that's how you do it. No other way. Here, I used the eraser for this one. Took me 5 minutes:

xCeres Profil: New Penguin | Another question xP
When I used that picture, why did it have a white background ?
I wanna know how to make the background transparent not white ._.
BTW:thanks uttaresh, I now know how to make the background disappear ^^
uttaresh The Penguin Master Profil: Penguin Pro | To have a white background, you can only store your image in GIF and PNG format. JPEG does not support transparency. PNG has far superior quality, but GIFs can store animations (moving pictures).
Of course, you must first enable transparent backgrounds. To do this in Photoshop, click on File>>New. For background contents, select Transparent.
Hope this helps. ---------------

xCeres Profil: New Penguin | But why do I see lots of pictures in bitmap format that are transparent?

To make a transparent bitmap you must make sure that the bitmap has been converted to Indexed 256 colour. 24bit Bitmaps will not make a transparent image. Make sure that pixel (0,0) in the top left most part of the picture has the colour you want to be transparent. If you have a background colour that you do not want to be transparent put another colour at pixel (0,0), preferably 1 that doesn't appear in the rest of the image. Some image editors allow you to add a colour to the palette if needed.
In some cases setting colour 0 in the colour index also can help.

But, probably .png is much easier.
xCeres Profil: New Penguin | So can I do this using Photoshop 2?
uttaresh The Penguin Master Profil: Penguin Pro | But why would you want to? ---------------

xCeres Profil: New Penguin | guys why won't photoshop allow me to make the background transparent when in bitmap format?
Asher Genius is not born , it is made.... Profil: Moderator | you can not preserve transparency in a bitmap image , however the programs which are compatible with bitmap images mostly leave the color "FF00FF" transparent , so if you save this image as bmp and use it then I am pretty sure you will get your desired transparency ---------------
