Hey guys, i followed a tutorial of how to make a billard ball, it came out pretty goos i must say!!  
 
Now i've decided that i want to change the colour of the ball from green to blue. I saved my file as a psd a jpeg and a gif file so i had all kinds of files to work with. When i go open the psd file i can see all the layers properly But when i click on the ball layer and i go and try fill with colour the colour comes out all crappy!!! How am i meant to do it? I've attached a picture of my screen so you can see the original and then when i try to fill it with colour!

That's because of aliasing. Simplest way of changing the color without having problems would be to:
 
- First select the entire image.
- Then deselect the middle A part. To do this, use any of the selection tools whilst pressing down the Alt key.
- Now, everything but the A should be selected.
- Go to Image>Adjustments>Hue/Saturation. Make sure that the Preview option is selected.
- Slide the Hue bar till you get the desired color.
- Slide the Saturation bar to increase or decrease the purity/strength/intensity of the color.
- Slide the Lightness bar till you get the desired lightness/brightness.
- Click OK.

or you may just right click the layer, go to blending options, check the color overlay and adjust your required color.
