| uttaresh The Penguin Master Profil: Penguin Pro | Let's face it. GIFs are amazingly inferior in quality to PNGs -- but PNGs don't support animations. So what do ya do when you want to create high quality animated images? And honestly, Flash is a little too complex for image-work - not to mention it doesn't properly support Photoshop's features; namely layers, frames, masks, transparency, gradients, etc. So what do we do??? ---------------

darklady Just remember, art saves lives. Profil: Big Penguin | Actually there is a way to animate png files, but at the moment, I don't think it is a wise idea.
Don't quote me, but I don't think all browsers support it... and I don't think they are actually animated "images" so to speak...
I have not read a whole lot about it, but I had run across it accidentally.

truth ------------------------- Profil: Big Penguin | SVG is the best alternative. ---------------

uttaresh The Penguin Master Profil: Penguin Pro | SVG? Never heard of it. Is it supported by Firefox and Internet Explorer? What about Safari? And does Photoshop support it? I just saw Animated PNGs. Very impressive, but it doesn't work with Internet Explorer. And the file size is huge! Message edited by uttaresh on 11-12-2008 at 09:16:04 AM ---------------

I'm not sure what version you are using, but Adobe Flash CS3 supports all these things. I believe Macromedia Flash 8 as well.

uttaresh The Penguin Master Profil: Penguin Pro | I meant that you could not properly import all those from Photoshop into Flash. ---------------

Gruzz Profil: Moderator | Why not? When I use File - Import - Import to Stage, it works great. You can even choose how you want to import the layers from Photoshop. | |
uttaresh The Penguin Master Profil: Penguin Pro | That's great, but now try it with an animated PDF file with Frames AND Layers, vectors, gradients, masks and filters. Doesn't come out right. ---------------

uttaresh The Penguin Master Profil: Penguin Pro | OK, I'm PMing it to you. EDIT: Hmmm... can't find the one I was talking about... maybe I deleted it. But believe me, you cannot import it right. ---------------
