True, Since all of us act here voluntarily, It's a matter of self satisfaction But no one can ask another to do stuff like that It's correct  
As example, I was trying to do a new tutorial for the Ps tutorial section since my re-assignment but just can't have the time.

I feel like there needs to be something new presented from the creators. The last big thing to come was new forum software...

CrystalXP does needs a huge makeover, alot of improvements etc. or else it's going to start dying like every other internet community, and if it does change it's not going to be Crystal "XP" anymore, it's going to be something more!

Well, technically the XP is for Experience (which was what Microsoft chose as well). So, it isn't truly wrong... but it still is misleading (not many know what it stands for). But at the same time, we all know this as CrystalXP.net...

EDIT: And as far as the feed, let's have one that actually works, unlike what is there now

Regarding the name.. It might be confusing, that's true. But I doubt that we are going to change that. Crystal.net doesn't sound good to me - and it's already in use as well. Other names [Crystal-design, Crystal....] all sound a bit cheap if you ask me.
 
tntanto and thetmyster, you're both 'relatively' new. Of course your input is appreciated, but talking about CrystalXP like it is dying is slightly excagerated if you ask me. We've been here together for a long time, and tough we lost some great members (Breakfastclub, DarkLady, a lot more ) - we're still a great community! And some day others might leave, some come back and hopefully we will catch some new guys and girls as well.
 
Tanshin, I feel a site design is needed as well. I am afraid that dlb doesn't immediately like the sound of that, but I will ask him! He's put so much into this forum.. perhaps that makes him afraid of change as well.
 
In conclusion, I want to say that I think that we shouldn't jump to a new site after a day. It's something that will probably take some time, and I really want it to be ironed out and look fantastic. But I think that is something our community should help us with as well! Sometimes CrystalXP is a bit too closed for them (and for me as well )!

I Personally think the 'XP' be removed from the 'crystal'.

And with the wide availability of win 7 , all those "make xp like vista"
tutorials, utilities, packs have somewhat, lost their relevance.

Strangely, win 7 (as being a microsoft product) appears to be more stable, and hence less number of help and requests appear.
However, now new areas of customizations for seven are availiable, like gadgets, aero themes (window frames and wallpaper packs + sounds).

I'll be checking out the gadget API, as for themes,I couldn't find a uxtheme patch that works.

@ site redesign : I don't think that necessary, this forum is some of the best designed and maintained ones. Some features like a chatbox/shoutbox , rss etc will be good.

Well, finally I also agreee with you Gruzz
We don't need to hurry up into a total re-design or whatever that it may sounds like as we've been here for a long time as I concern (I mean the site) But we need to think of some new addons for the existing main site & some new interesting topics for the forum also.

I agree with your idea Tanshin We currently have a graphic release section to deal with that & also in the Home page We have the link for those comes from the PNG factory
So I don't say that we need a change in that layout But the forums need to be bit more attractive (not only visually)

However, as Gruzz said, The Guru (dlb) has to take the important decision & also we must respect his work. He won't suddenly accept a total change to his site just as that. Without any debate the forum has a great responsibility on him & Didas & some unmentioned here.

As a fellow forum owner, I can completely agree with the idea of being reluctant to change.
 
I think the least we need to do is bring something fresh to the home page, something that will kinda say "Hey! We still change a bit!"
 
Sadly, for us (or me at least), we don't get into the French forum that much, so we aren't seeing what's happening in there. So, I think we need to try and get some more activity to the English side. We could advertise more to English areas, perhaps do more English contests (this would be a way to attract people as well).
 
Doing a redesign will take a long time, considering how much is on this site, but there are still things we can/need to do to keep it fresh. And no, putting a hat on the tux is not fresh ... but it's a start!

I thought, just not a complete redesign, many sites for halloween for example, put a pumpkin on the logo. Just something subtle like that
 
Gruzz When i first came to this site, threads lasted for days, even weeks (well Gossip thread and desktop still do) but there were loads of fresh new tutorials etc. And that has all kind of stopped )
 
i think that maybe, CrystalXP Is like a father of graphics to me, I started here about 2years ago. Joined maybe 3 years ago but never really saw the sites whole potential.

Just finished watching 'Taken', it's a really good action thriller .

I'd have to disagree about not having a huge re-design, this site badly needs something new and refreshing not just a few minor changes because the population only seems to be declining..  

We still need to advertise to English sources... I can put a link on my forum.

Yes, but if it is not accepted by the community it is a HUGE Waste of designers and Admins time.

Edit. I have just realized how
much if a twit my dad is; he went to pick up my laptop from the repair shop. He pluged it In and the amber(charging) light was on I stead of green(full) so he gave it back and told them to fix it (recharge it lol) this prooves that 60year olds even at the best of times can be complete idiots!!!

Are you citing your references properly? If it says References, that usually means APA style... so let's say you are citing your first reference, you would use this at the end of your sentence: (Kumar, 2009)
 
But I'm just being cautious. I haven't fully read it yet (when I first saw the [8] I thought you were copying from Wikipedia, which is bad )
