Hello everybody! I never took the time to introduce myself!
My name is David, I am 23 years old and I live in France (Dijon - Bourgogne)!

I work as webdesigner in the company I have created with TheGuit and Vermi.
I am impassioned of customisation and more particularly of the Crystal icons of Everaldo!
I have decided to share this passion with you by creating this Internet website which counts more and more visitors!

My name is Vernon de Goede, I'm 15 years old.  
I live in Oss, the Netherlands.
 
My hobbies are programming, running and going out. I mainly use PHP/SQL/Javascript (AJAX) for programming, but sometimes I write some "basic" C programs.
 
Besides making websites as a hobby, I also do this for my own "company". I call it VernonWeb Design and use it as my sideline job.
 
My favourite art style is the style that dlb used for his "Vista icon sets". He reproduced his own copies of these icons perfectly!

It's good to have you here, but I noticed you say CSS and HTML. The only thing you can learn from this site is Photoshop/GIMP -- specifically making icons, wallpapers, and designs ... graphics design.
 
Cascading Style Sheets and the Hyper-text Markup Language are a part of web design. There aren't too many discussions about those here, though certain individuals may be able to help you out.
 
Anyway, they're really easy to learn. Here's a site with all the tutorials you'll need.

I really don't know why it's how it is. Did you make it yourself from scratch, or did you edit or paste some image?

There are many ways to fix it, but the best would be if you still had the PSD with separate layers. The goal is to darken the black background whilst trying to maintain the color of the inner box. For this avatar JPEG, try this:

• Go to Image>>Adjustments>>Auto Levels.
• Duplicate the layer, by right clicking on the layer in the Layers Window and selecting Duplicate Layer.
• Select the lower layer. Go to Image>>Adjustments>>Brightness/Contrast. Set the Brightness to +10 and Contrast to +100.
• Now right-click the above layer, and select Blending Options. Change the Blending Mode to Color.

That should help. You should get something along the lines of this:

PS - Save the image in PNG format; the quality if much better than GIFs or JPEGs.

Welcome to CrystalXP Reibies. uttaresh is right, so far discussion around CSS and HTML hasn't really been going on. Although it is a very interesting subject, and in my opinion worth of a separate section. uttaresh is making a good point on your avatar (wow, he's working so hard today ).
 
Just a small note, for photographs it's probably better to use .jpg/.jpeg's.
