truth ------------------------- Profil: Top Penguin | I have an ati gpu integrated on mboard, but its old, I plan to
put another one in the pcle x16 port, but can't decide,
nvidia or ati ? , and will two gpu's work together? ---------------
Good bye friends.
| |
turtle bacon Profil: Top Penguin | I would personly go with nividia if your more of a gamer. But if your more into graphics then i would go with ATI. Each card has its own strengths and weaknesses. You also should do some research on nvidia and ATi sites to see if they are compatible. ---------------

Tanshin Profil: Penguin Pro | In my opinion, nVidia is better than ATI in general. I had an ATI card and it junked in about a year. I've had an nVidia card for a while and it still works as if it was brand new. ---------------

| |
uttaresh The Penguin Master Profil: Penguin Pro | Yeah, I have never seen an nVIDIA card give up. They last very long, and provide constant quality. Anyway, I only bought my first GeForce (when I was 11 or 12) because I thought you could actually play a game with one of those busty, sexy Tinkerbell like fairies they always put on the package ... false advertising as****** ... ---------------

Tanshin Profil: Penguin Pro | Actually, I believe that ATI is placing more of those "babes" on their packages than nVidia has. I still remember my first ATI card.
Also, when you install Roller Coaster Tycoon 3, there is a "babe" during installation for an ATI ad. ---------------

| |
uttaresh The Penguin Master Profil: Penguin Pro | Perhaps, but as I stated, I was 11 or 12. Most of us have an obsession for the female chest area at that age. Heck I still do! ---------------

Congratulations with your new card and good luck installing. | |
dazza Profil: Big Penguin | yes i find they use "sexuality" for 2 reasons
1 so people want to buy it for the babes sake
2 some might think the graphics on the front is what it will run

poiru Profil: Moderator | I just got my new PC (sold off the old one), so I've been pretty inactive lately. Here are the final specs:
Intel Core 2 Duo E8500 3,16GHz
ASUS P5Q-E motherboard
Kingston HyperX 800MHz RAM, 2x2GB
Sapphire Radeon HD 4670
Enermax Modu82+ 425W
Antec P182 case
Samsung SpinPoint F1 320GB
Noctua U12P cooler
Total cost about 800€. Message edited by poiru on 04-04-2009 at 01:16:10 PM

uttaresh The Penguin Master Profil: Penguin Pro | Wow! 3.16GHz Dual Core? That's pretty good for a laptop, but you didn't mention HOW MUCH RAM it has. ---------------

Tanshin Profil: Penguin Pro | I'd say so. 3.16 is pretty nice.
I also am curious about ram... ---------------

It's a desktop And I plan to OC it to 3.4-3.6GHz.. Maybe even closer to 4GHz if the Noctua can handle the heat..
And it has 2x2GB RAM (total 4GB), which is more than enough for me. Hardly ever use 2GB+, but took 4GB for the future. Besides, RAM is so cheap these days.. Message edited by poiru on 04-04-2009 at 01:28:17 PM ---------------

dazza Profil: Big Penguin | what is it running i presume vista??? ---------------

Nope. XP (and Ubuntu) for me. Will probably switch to Windows 7 once its out, though.
Here are some pictures for the geeks:
(pretty nice that the fan looks as if its off, while it, in fact, is running at 1300RPM)
Btw, I almost grilled my processer while assembling the computer. I put the heatsink wrong, and it didn't have contact with the processor -> processor ran at 100 celcius (according to motherboard)..
Oh, and the interior is pretty messy. I have to clean the wiring a bit, but too lazy to do that right now.. Message edited by poiru on 04-04-2009 at 01:41:57 PM ---------------

Tanshin Profil: Penguin Pro | If you haven't already, removing that thermal pad and replacing it with paste is always a good idea. I'm using this right now: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] =ceramique
I still remember when I was rendering something with Photoshop in Save for Web, and I maxed out my processor and RAM. That was a long time ago though... I had 3 GB of RAM at the time ---------------

I use the Noctua paste, which is very good, too.
The processor under Prime95 load is at about 36-40 degrees, while it idles at 26-28 So, it's good now.
Here's a quick paint image of how I failed..

truth ------------------------- Profil: Top Penguin | So do you have any other option than that paste ?
coz I opened my GPU a time ago , and I'm not sure if it touches the chip's metal top. I didn't noticed that paste, thought it was deposited due to fan.
---------------
Good bye friends.
| |
dazza Profil: Big Penguin | the fan in my old computer came loose, not pretty...not pretty ---------------

| |
Tanshin Profil: Penguin Pro | I'm not quite sure about the gpu... it is possible the pad may have burned off (something the pads do. They are wax based and will harden with age) ---------------

| |
turtle bacon Profil: Top Penguin | Haha my dads old old dinosaur 900mhrz dell computer got hit by lighting and exploded into flamms under my dads desk it was funny! Nothing else cought on fire so don't worry ---------------
